The Health Ministry of the Hamas government in the Gaza Strip said on Wednesday that through 22-days of fighting, 5,000 homes in Gaza have been destroyed by Israeli bombing and shelling; 26,000 others have been damaged, 4,100 to the point where they are no longer habitable; and 215,000 Gazans have fled their homes. Many who have left their residences have done so against Hamas admonitions and because of warnings issued by the Israeli military before attacks in those respective neighborhoods are launched. On Monday, Israel notified some 400,000 residents of northern Gaza cities to evacuate.
