A Palestinian stabbed and killed an Israeli at a bust stop near the West Bank city of Nablus. According to initial reports, he then grabbed the Israeli’s gun and began firing at Israeli soldiers. They returned fire, wounding him and took him into custody. The 32-year-old resident of one of the Jewish communities in land Israel acquired in 1967 was the first Israeli to be killed there since 2011. The head of the Shomron Regional Council blamed the Israeli government for opening the nearby checkpoint, saying Palestinian attacks have increased dramatically since then. “Since opening the checkpoint, the terrorists are moving around freely and no one is checking them,” he said.
