Palestinian Prisoner Hunger Strike Ends; Ramadan Begins
After some 1,500 Palestinians serving sentences in Israeli jails for security crimes reached the 40th day of a mass hunger strike, an agreement was reached between Israel Prison Authority, the International Red Cross and the Palestinian Authority, to end the action. The agreement focused on the key issue – 2 family visitations will be allowed each month instead of one. Although the strike has ended, negotiations on other issues not yet solved are expected to continue indefinitely.
The end of the strike came in time for the holy month of Ramadan, which began Saturday night.
The Media Line extends greetings to all of our Muslim readers on the occasion of Ramadan –
