Israel’s Prison Authority has reached an agreement that prisoners will end their two-month old hunger strike. According to Palestinian sources, the prisoners say that most of their demands have been met. On the Israeli side, word of the agreement provoked a public response from the mother of one of the teenage boys who were kidnapped two weeks ago. Bat Galim Shaer castigated Prime Minister Netanyahu for appeasing Palestinian security prisoners while the fate of their children remains unknown. Speaking at Israel’s parliament where the mothers were meeting with lawmakers, she asked, “How is it possible that our nation is living in a state of uncertainty, while the Palestinian people erupt in celebrations?”
