Palestinian Rocket Reached Edge of Tel Aviv Region; Israeli Killed Monday

An Israeli worker was killed Monday morning when a Palestinian Grad missile exploded at a construction site near the coastal city of Ashqelon. 14 people were injured, 5 seriously. Earlier, Israeli military censors  allowed it to be revealed that one of the rockets fired by Palestinians from the Gaza Strip on Sunday morning reached the outskirts of the greater Tel Aviv metropolitan area – the greatest distance by a Palestinian rocket to date. It fell near the community of Gan Yavne, some 18 miles from Israel’s border with the Gaza Strip, and near the port city of Ashdod. The report was originally embargoed in order to prevent those firing the rockets from learning the coordinates of the target range. Israeli military authorities claim the number of rockets fired from the Gaza Strip has been greatly reduced since the beginning of “Operation Cast Lead.”
