Palestinian sources claim a 15-year old boy was shot and killed by Israeli troops during a Land Day protest near the Gaza-Israel border on Tuesday. Israel denies the incident ever happened. Palestinians took to the streets in a number of locations to mark “Land Day” – the commemoration of a 1976 protest against land confiscation that turned violent and left six dead. The incident in-point was alleged to have taken place near the town of Rafah at the southern end of the Gaza Strip. A similar demonstration took place near Khan Younis, where two Israeli soldiers and two Palestinian gunmen died in a fierce firefight last week. Israeli soldiers open fire at Palestinians who enter “no go” zones: areas near the border fence where the Israelis say terrorists routinely plant explosive devices and try to kidnap soldiers.
