The Palestinian Authority struck back at word of a cut in American aid of more than $200 million by charging Washington with reneging on its commitment to the PA. Spokesman Yousef Al-Mahmoud told reporters in Ramallah on Sunday that the slashing of support is “nothing new.” Repeating the tact taken by Palestinian leaders in recent days, Al-Mahmoud said the US plans are, “part of the policy of blackmail and pressure practiced by President Trump towards the Palestinian leadership to force it to accept the so-called ‘Deal of the Century.'” In announcing the cut in aid, President Trump said the promised funding would be “redirected” to “high-priority projects elsewhere,” but has not revealed what those projects are.
