Refusing to allow the recent failure of baseball to catch the imagination and interest of Israelis to the point where professional baseball could survive, an American company is taking another swing of the bat at bringing baseball to Israel. Headed by a part owner of the New York Yankees and the owner of an Israel basketball franchise, the group will try to do what a similar group failed to do two summers ago when the Israel Baseball League failed to draw enough interest to support six teams. Attendance at games was limited to American ex-pats and visitors. Nevertheless, American baseball has been exported successfully to 110 nations, with interest growing as a result of the World Baseball Classic – the first tournament truly international in scope.
