PM Netanyahu: Israel Will Not Hesitate During Elections Campaign To Act In Gaza Or Against Iran

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu warned the respective rulers of the Gaza Strip and Iran that Israel will not hesitate to take military action against them in the lead-up to the April 9 elections. The comments came as the Israeli army announced the start of construction on an upgraded “smart fence” along the southern border with the Hamas-ruled Palestinian enclave. The new 65-kilometer-long steel structure will reach a height of 6 meters and compliment a yet-completed underground barrier equipped with a system of advanced sensors that can locate attack tunnels. The Israel Defense Forces also is nearing completion on a naval barrier to stave off Hamas operations at sea. The work on the Gaza fence was launched after nearly ten months of weekly so-called “March of Return” protests initiated and directed by the territory’s terrorist regime. Every Friday since early last year thousands of Palestinians have converged on the frontier to riot and set cover for attempted infiltrations into Israeli territory. Meanwhile, the IDF has conducted thousands of strikes to destroy Iranian assets in Syria as part of Jerusalem’s oft-stated policy of preventing Tehran from establishing a permanent foothold in the war-torn country and transferring advanced weaponry to its Lebanon-based Hizbullah proxy. To this end, Prime Minister Netanyahu on Sunday conveyed “to the tyrants in Tehran: We know what you are doing and we know where you are doing it. We will continue to [use] all the tools at our disposal to ensure Israel’s security.”
