Polls Show Much More Support for Knifings among Gaza Youth than in the West Bank

Young Palestinians who live in the Gaza Strip are much more likely to support the knifings carried out by Palestinians against Israelis that their brethren who live in the West Bank. But even in the West Bank, one-out-of-two support the campaign of violence that has left more than 30 Israelis dead and more than one hundred Palestinians killed, many in the act of violence, since early October. The Jerusalem Media and Communication Center shows a gap of 47% in the West Bank supporting stabbings versus 79% in the Gaza Strip. Regarding the effectiveness of the knifing campaign, 67% Gazans see it as positive to the Palestinian cause while only 40% of West Bank residents agree. A poll by the Palestinian Center for Policy and Survey Research indicates there is no longer a majority of Palestinians who still support a two-state solution, down from 51% to 43%.
