Pope Francis didn’t exactly call Nazi extermination camps “Holocaust centers” as White House press spokesman Sean Spicer did when he triggered his brouhaha two weeks ago, but the Pontiff’s equivocal reference to concentration camps and the facilities that hold Syrian refugees didn’t fare much better. His reasoning that they are “concentration” camps because they are so overcrowded drew the ire of Jews worldwide. In Washington, President Trump apparently plans to minimize the Spicer gaffe with a Holocaust Remembrance Day “plus one” visit to the U.S. Holocaust Museum.
