President Obama will make an end-run around senators opposing the return of an ambassador to Syria by making a recess appointment. Turkey and Azerbaijan will also receive ambassadors via the recess route. Career diplomat Robert Stephen Ford was selected months ago, but the process froze when senators objected to the administration offering goodwill gestures to Syria while it continues to blatantly assist in providing the Hizbullah terrorist organization in Lebanon with sophisticated missiles and plays hosts to some of the world’s most notorious terrorist organizations. President Bashar Al-Asad is believed to have either stone-walled or overtly lied to American envoys on the issue of arming Hizbullah. The move has been blasted by incoming chairman of the House Foreign Relations Committee Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen.
