US President Barack Obama flew into Riyadh on Tuesday to pay his respects to the kingdom on the death last week of longtime ruler King Abdullah. During his meeting with his successor, King Salman, the new monarch stressed to the American president that Iran must not be allowed to obtain nuclear weapons. According to reports, Salman specifically offered no opposition to the US-led diplomatic efforts under way to get Iran to voluntarily abandon its nuclear weapons ambitions, but made clear that allowing it to create weapons is unacceptable. Also on the agenda was the deteriorating situation in next-door Yemen and the ongoing fight against ISIS. What was notably missing from topics of discussion was the price of oil, according to media who traveled with the president.
