“What’s Next?” might be the tag line for Friday’s session in Vienna at which representatives of the Islamic Republic and the five world powers still a party to the nuclear agreement following the withdrawal by the United States will meet to ask that question. Not surprisingly, the meeting was requested by Iran and the putative agenda will doubtless be what the remaining nations can do to prevent Iran from canceling the deal. After the US bolted, the Iranians played tough with the European Union states, telling them what they need to do to placate Tehran. Friday’s session is bound to be a tutorial for the West in staying in Iran’s good graces.
