Report 250 ISIS Fighters Killed by US Air Strikes around Fallujah

American military sources claim at least 250 armed Islamic State fighters were killed in US-led air strikes on Wednesday in and around the Iraqi city of Fallujah, where ISIS forces have lost its grip on the city that was among its first conquests. Speaking to the Reuters news agency, the source cautioned that the figure is preliminary. Analysts agree that the battlefield losses in Iraq and Syria are adding urgency to the ISIS global campaign as it is believed was behind this week’s massacre at the Ataturk airport in Istanbul in which 41 people died and more than 200 were wounded. This was borne out by CIA director John Brennan who told a group in Washington that, “But ISIS’ ability to continue to propagate its narrative, as well as to incite and carry out these attacks — I think we still have a ways to go before we’re able to say that we have made some significant progress against them.” The Iraqi military is also making advances toward liberating the city of Mosul. But it’s also not exclusively bleak for the ISIS gunmen on the field of battle. In the latest fighting it repelled a force of Syrian rebels along the border with Iraq on Wednesday.
