Recent comments by Democratic candidates for president in which suggestions were made that Israeli aid be adjusted as a way of pressuring Jerusalem into making concessions to the Palestinians have evoked a stinging response from the organization of Jewish Republicans. While point-counterpoint arguments are hardly new or unexpected, the spending of $10 million by an organization the size of the Republican Jewish Coalition is. The on-line campaign is built around a professional video entitled “Shanda”, which is Yiddish for “disgrace.” Candidates including Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren, Beto O’Rourke, and Pete Buttigieg are singled out along with Chuck Schumer, Nancy Pelosi for criticism of their statements. While the social media side of the campaign is budgeted at $50,000, media reports indicated the expenditures for the 2020 presidential race is $10,000,000. In an Axios article, RJC executive director is quoted as calling the $50,000 buy as “the first salvo in our multimillion-dollar effort to help President Trump and Republicans running for Congress in 2020.”
