Israel’s military echelon is feeling the pressure as an array of small weapons is again allowing Hamas terrorists to assume the pro-active role in controlling the confrontation between the Iranian-backed terrorists and the Jewish state. Taking less-is-more to the nth degree, the Hamas kite campaign – launching toy kites with deadly payloads – has inflicted more hard damage to Israeli property including agricultural fields and some structures while setting the stage for a resumption of the Hamas signature rocket war. On Tuesday night into Wednesday, some 45 rockets and mortar rounds were fired at the Jewish state, harming no one but causing damage to infrastructure. This, on the heels of the recent kite armada has military planners arguing over the efficacy of targeting kite flyers as they would rocket launchers. Retaliatory air force raids targeted some 25 targets across the enclave identified as belonging to Hamas. One internal debate the Israeli generals are tackling is whether to pursue known purveyors of what has now been named “kite terrorism” or “The Kite War” in the same manner the Israel Defense Forces would pursue those who launch rockets and mortars – including identifying them for targeted killings.
