Two Katyusha rockets fired from Lebanon landed inside of Israeli territory early Sunday morning. Although the incoming rounds caused no injuries or damage, Israel immediately struck back with artillery aimed at the source of the launch. The two rockets landed west of the northern city of Kiryat Shmona, only several kilometers from the Israel-Lebanon border. Israeli officials said three artillery rounds were fired in response, but Lebanese state-run media was reporting that two villages were under heavy mortar fire from Israel. It was the first such incident in four months, but tension has remained high since a sniper firing from inside Lebanon shot and killed an Israeli-Arab who was working on the border fence.
