US-led coalition forces have not carried out any airstrikes in Syria for three days as of yesterday, while Russia has stepped up its bombing campaign which began almost a month ago. The Russian defense ministry said on Sunday that it hit 94 targets in the past 24 hours. US defense officials said the temporary lull in US airstrikes had not connection to Russian actions. Russia has been a staunch ally of embattled Syrian President Bashar al-Assad but has only begun airstrikes in the past month.
