SARS Virus Kills 5 in Saudi Arabia; Patient Identified with SARS-like Virus in Egypt

Saudi Arabia on Friday reported five deaths from SARS-related virus and put the number of patients infected with the disease at 300 and its death toll at 92. A first case was reported in Egypt on Saturday: a man health officials said traveled to Cairo from Saudi Arabia. The trail of the deadly virus, which so far spans from the Gulf to Europe, has left dozens dead in its wake. The term MERS (Mideast Respiratory Syndrome) refers to all strains of the Sars-like coronavirus. The cities of Riyadh, Jiddah and Mecca have been hit with at least 14 newly recorded cases as of Friday.
