Satellite Images Seem to Confirm Airstrike on Sudan Site

A U.S. monitoring group, the Satellite Sentinel Project, told the Associated Press that satellite images of the aftermath of an explosion at a Sudanese weapons factory last week are consistent with an air strike. The Sudanese government has pointed the finger at Israel, accusing it of bombing its Yarmouk military complex in Khartoum, killing two people and leaving the factory in ruins. Israeli officials have neither confirmed nor denied attacking the site, but they have accused Sudan of being an important transit point in transferring weapons from Iran to Hamas in Gaza and Hezbollah in Lebanon. The air strike received wide coverage in the Israeli press, with some commentators suggesting that if Israel was responsible, it might have been a trial run for an operation in Iran. Both countries are about 1,000 miles away from Israel, and planes would need to refuel in flight.
