Saudi-led Coalition Pounds Targets in Sana’a

Ratcheting-up regional tension and risking new friction with the United States, the Saudi-led coalition fighting the Iranian-backed Houthis pounded the capital city of Sana’a Saturday night. According to the Saudi-controlled Al-Arabiya newspaper, seven military targets were hit, including a drone storage facility and a training site; while the Houthi’s television station acknowledged four military targets but went on to report a total of 24 targets struck by Saudi aircraft, a number of which were not combat-relevant. The United Nations is trying to find a formula to halt the fighting, but the combatants seem uninterested in trying out the U.N.’s ideas. Last week the Houthis used their drones to attack a military parade put on by the Yemeni government leading to Saturday’s air strikes.
