Saudi Arabia’s Interior Ministry reported on Wednesday that its security forces prevented an attempt to blow up a fuel terminal belonging to Saudi Aramco. The government is alleging that the Iranian-backed Houthis, the Shiite group that overthrew the Hadi government in Yemen on whose behalf the Saudis are leading a multi-national military campaign, attempted to blow up a fuel terminal in southern Saudi Arabia with a high-speed boat laden with explosives. Saudi troops fired on the remote-controlled boat about a mile from its target in Jazan. By virtue of its control of northern Yemen, the Iranian proxy also controls key waterways and poses threats from remote naval vessels and mines.
