Sea of Galilee Epicenter of 4.1 Earthquake and 11-Quake Swarm

Israelis living in the north of the country experienced an earthquake measuring 4.1 on the Richter scale early Wednesday morning. The quake’s epicenter was located in the northwest section of the Sea of Galilee, also known as Lake Kineret. A total of eleven quakes registered in a swarm of tremors, but there were no injuries reported after any of the tremors. People as far away as central Israel reported feeling the earth move, with other reports being heard from the Jordan Valley and the greater Haifa area. It is common in Israel to hear speculation about a major earthquake, many believing the region is “overdue” for “the big one.”
