Turkish police have arrested a member of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PPK) on suspicion that he was planning further bomb attacks. Five bombs have exploded in three cities during the past 48 hours. On Sunday, 20 were injured in three explosions in the resort town of Marmaris and a fourth explosion took place in Istanbul. On Monday, the resort city of Antalya was the scene of a deadly explosion that killed three people. Authorities contend Monday’s arrest came as the suspect was planning a bomb attack in the port city of Izmir. Police reportedly arrested accomplices and confiscated plastic explosives in a raid. Responsibility for the Marmaris blasts was claimed by the Kurdish Freedom Falcons, a group aligned with the PPK. In a statement, it warned tourists to stay away from Turkey.
