Kurdish fighters fired a rocket into a Turkish army base on the Mediterranean Sea killing six soldiers on Sunday. The base at Iskenderum was hit by a rocket fired from a road overlooking the port where the base is located. The Kurdish Workers Party (PKK) has been fighting for autonomy for twenty-five years. One day before the attack the jailed leader of the PKK called an end to his attempts to communicate with the Turkish government.
