Soldier Wounded by Explosive Device as Violence Spirals

As the pace of violent incidents continues to spiral upward, an Israeli soldier suffered moderate wounds on Wednesday night when an explosive device was hurled at him by an assailant who fled the scene. The incident took place at a checkpoint near Jerusalem. Earlier on Wednesday, an Israeli man and his young daughter were lightly hurt when their vehicle was pelted with stones as it made its way along a Jerusalem-area highway. The incidents came one day after five people were wounded by rocks thrown at a public bus and two private cars as they passed through an east Jerusalem neighborhood. In that incident, police reported that three on the injured were Jordanians. Stabbings and rock-throwing incidents have become commonplace over recent weeks.
