The Biden administration has urged State Department officials to refrain from calling the four normalization agreements signed last year between Israel and Arab and Muslim states by their official name – the Abraham Accords, the Washington Free Beacon reported on Friday. According to the report, emails sent to department employees notified them that the pacts brokered by former President Donald Trump will be referred to simply as normalization agreements. The moniker was also reportedly scrubbed from the White House’s official communications, memos and other documents. However, a State Department spokesperson told the Free Beacon that the State Department “would refer to the Abraham Accords as such.” Last August, Israel and the United Arab Emirates established diplomatic relations, followed shortly by Bahrain, and later Morocco and Sudan. Israel and the Emirates have since cemented several bilateral cooperation contracts ranging from tourism to energy to research.
