Bush stressed that Iran was “developing ballistic missiles of increasing range,” and that “It continues to develop its capabilities to enrich uranium which could be used to create a nuclear weapon.” PRESS TV headlined Bush’s speech “Bush rhetoric echoes anti-Iran hysteria,” while the official Al-Alam TV spoke of “the unpopular president [who] vowed to ‘confront’ Iran if necessary to protect what he called U.S. troops or Washington’s vital interests in the Persian Gulf.”
