Strikes Attributed to Israel Kill 10 Pro-Iranian fighters

Israel is suspected of having carried out strikes on a base and ammunition facility operated by pro-Iranian fighters in eastern Syria. Unidentified unmanned aircraft attacked posts belonging to the Iraq-based Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF), which is loyal to Tehran. According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, the assault killed at least 10 Iranian-backed fighters near the Iraqi border. The Israeli military has been accused of conducting numerous air raids on Shiite forces in the Abu Kamal region – including earlier this month –which straddles the Syria-Iraq frontier. Israel claims that Iran is using such positions to smuggle advanced weaponry into Syria, some of which are then transferred to Hizbullah in Lebanon. According to reports, six arms depots and training camps belonging to the PMF have been targeted in apparent attacks, including some located within Iraq. Notably, Arab media reported that Saudi jets may have participated in the recurring strikes.
