Sudan, Somalia High on A.U. Agenda

The leaders of most African nations are in Addis Ababa on Thursday for a summit being held under the shadow of the crisis in Kenya. However, opposition forces in Kenya are trying to persuade leaders of other countries not to have dealings with Kenya’s president, claiming he was fraudulently elected. If they succeed, the crises in Sudan and Somalia will take center stage. In both countries, the fighting continues between government forces and various rebel groups, while Chad and the Central African Republic are becoming increasingly involved in Sudan’s Darfur issue, with refugees still pouring into them and being caught up in cross-border violence.
