A demonstration against the Israeli offensive in the Gaza Strip became the target of a suicide bomber in Mosul, Iraq, on Sunday. One person died and 16 were wounded when an explosive-laden bicycler rode into the midst of the demonstrators and blew up. Other demonstrations throughout the Arab world were less eventful. Egypt had demonstrations in Cairo and in the southern city of Assiut, drawing 12,000 between them. Amman and Damascus also saw demonstrations, but in the Jordanian capital, much of the angst was aimed at Egypt. Outside the Egyptian Embassy, protesters charged Egypt with collaborating with Israel by closing its borders to the Gaza Strip. Syria has formally suspended peace talks with Israel.
