Suicide Bomber Kills Three in Israeli Resort City of Eilat

At least three people are dead following a suicide bombing in a bakery in the Israeli port city of Eilat. Police said the bomber was among the dead (in addition to three victims) but did not rule out the possibility that he did not act alone. Three others were injured in the blast. Located on Israel‘s southern tip on the Red Sea alongside Jordan‘s Port of Aqaba, Eilat is primarily a resort town frequented by Israelis, Europeans and visitors from around the world. It has not been the target of any terrorist attacks during the six-year period of violence that erupted in September 2000, although nearby Egyptian locations across the border have been targeted. Many Israelis were among the victims of those attacks. Monday’s bombing occurred in a residential area away from where the hotels are located.
