The German foreign minister told reporters on Monday that the plot to blow up an American military installation in Germany extended all the way to Pakistan and Syria. Interior Minister Wolfgang Schaeuble made his comments in Washington where he was meeting with U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff. German police recently arrested three men whom they accused of plotting to blow up the Frankfurt airport and U.S. military bases in Germany. Referring to Al-Qa’ida, Schaeuble said the suspects were backed by a large international organization and had contacts "not only in Pakistan [and] Syria," but possibly in European nations, too.
