Syria and Islamic State Likely Used Chemical Attacks

An international team has blamed both the Syrian government and Islamic State for chemical attacks in Syria during 2014 and 2015. The Associated Press quoted a French diplomat that the international team, set up by the UN Security Council, investigated nine cases of suspected use of chemical weapons, and found conclusive evidence in three cases. The Syrian government used chlorine gas attacks at least twice, and the Islamic State mostly likely used sulfur mustard. The Syrian government destroyed much of its stocks of chemical weapons after US pressure. The report called for further investigation in several instances.
