Syrian Exports to the U.S. Reach a 19 Year High

Bilateral trade between the United States and Syria is on the rise, a new report has found.
A study by Syrian business newsletter Syria-Report has found that Syrian exports to the U.S. were valued at $440 million during the first half of 2010, a 19 year high. The group attributed the rise to the increased sale of oil derivatives, an agreement between two parties over the price of a commodity, in this case oil. The increase in export is largely a result of an increase in the value of exports of oil derivatives such as lubricants and fuel oil,” Jihad al-Yaziji, Publisher and Editor of the Syria Report told The Media Line. “They make up 95 percent of Syrian sales to the U.S… U.S. exports are essentially made up of agricultural products, such as soybeans and corn and crude oil.”
