Syrian Girl Tweets About War

A seven-year-old girl in Aleppo, Bana Alabad, has become the new voice of civilians trapped in the besieged city of Aleppo in Syria. Tweeting in English, with her mother’s help, she asked the world to pray for her. “Under attack. Nowhere to go, every minute feels like death. Pray for us. Goodbye,” Alabad’s mother Fatemah said she created the twitter account for her daughter in September to show the world their life under siege in Aleppo. The Syrian army has recently made gains, and taken about 60 percent of the rebel-held areas there. About 30,000 civilians have fled the area in the past week, but about 250,000 still live in the besieged areas of Aleppo and UN officials say there are shortages of food and medicine there.
