Syrian Missile Base Hit by Missile Launched from Mediterranean

Eyewitnesses reported a large blast at a Syrian military base near the port city of Latakia on Wednesday. The incident came shortly after sources in Lebanon reported Israeli jet fighters circling in the area. At the same time, a Syrian website claimed that the source of the blast was a missile fired from the Mediterranean. There have been no reports of casualties. Last July, Israeli jets were said to be responsible for an attack on a warehouse containing Russian missiles in the Latakia area. It was later reported by the New York Times that American military officials said the strike failed to destroy all of the missiles and suggested Israel would take another bite at the apple.
