The Free Syrian Army has moved its command center from Turkey to Syria in an effort to unite opposition forces according to a video posted by FSA commander Col. Riad Assad. The move could also signal a greater ability on the part of rebel forces to maneuver. On Saturday the rebels claimed to have shot down another Syrian Air Force jet, this one over the town of Atarib in the northern Idlib province. Opposition forces have been asking Western nations to supply them with surface-to-air missiles as President Bashar Al-Assad began to rely more heavily on attack helicopters and jet aircraft. Saturday’s shoot-down was reportedly accomplished with anti-aircraft guns. A jet was downed in the same area at the end of August, right after a helicopter was shot down near Damascus. The air war has contributed heavily to the death toll which has now exceeded 27,000 casualties in the 19-month conflict.
