International relief workers say that thousands of Syrian refugees stranded on Jordan’s border are running out of food. Jordan declared the area a closed military zone after a suicide bomber, believed to be from Islamic State, blew himself up near a military base killing seven Jordanian border guards. Aid workers said that Jordan is only allowing water into a nearby refugee camp but has stopped food shipments for the sixth day. They warn that the area is facing a growing humanitarian crisis and called on the Jordanian government to allow food supplies through. Jordan has taken hundreds of thousands of Syrian refugees, and says it cannot absorb any more. Jordan has few natural resources and part of the population lives in poverty.
