Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad is now willing to allow his representatives to meet with members of the opposition forces under Russian auspices in Moscow according to Syrian state-run television. In a statement, the government said, “Syria is willing to participate in preliminary consultations in Moscow in order to meet the aspirations of Syrians to find a way out of crisis.” Russia has supported the idea of talks but has stipulated that opposition groups need to present a unified front before negotiations can begin.
