In a gesture clearly intended to tweak the American nose as much as instilling pride in its people, Iran on Saturday launched a new production line for the manufacturing of Sayyad 3 missiles. Iranian military sources report the weapon flies at an altitude of 16 miles for 74 miles. It’s supposedly effective against virtually anything that flies, from helicopters, fighter jets and drones; to cruise missiles. Last week, after certifying that Iran was living up to its responsibilities in the 2015 nuclear deal with Western nations, slapped Tehran with a new set of sanctions as punishment for pursuing its ballistic missile program. Those sanction work in armament fields related to the newly-initiated sanctions. At the ceremony to celebrate the opening of the production line, the Iranian defense minister referred to the $110 billion arms purchase Saudi Arabia made from the United States, saying its purpose was to “threaten Islamic Iran.”
