Terror Attack on Jerusalem Light Rail Thwarted

An explosive-laden terrorist planning to board a crowded rush-hour Light Rail train in Jerusalem was spotted by alert Light Rail personnel at about 9am Sunday morning and subdued without incident. Officials have not said what aroused suspicion and led security personnel to interrogate the 20-year old from the West Bank, but during questioning the suspect told officers he was carrying explosives. His load turned out to be a number of pipe bombs. Police shut down the light rail and portions of two main Jerusalem arteries — King George and Yaffo Streets – while the area was searched for explosives and accomplices, sappers detonated the bombs.
