Terrorist Leaders are Fleeing Mosul in Advance of US-backed Iraqi Army Assault

Following the start of the long-awaited assault by the Iraqi army and supported by the US military, leaders of the Islamic State terror network and other heads of terrorist organizations based in Mosul are fleeing. A spokesman for the coalition said on Wednesday that those leaving the city captured by ISIS two years ago would be scrutinized to prevent wanted terrorists from leaving. But, he said, “We’ve seen a movement out of Mosul.” Although the wanted men have in many cases slipped away, the coalition is nevertheless seeking to use the exodus to its advantage. According to spokesman Maj. Gen. Gary Volesky, “We’re telling ISIS [fighters] that their leaders are abandoning them.”
