Tickets Still Available for Paul McCartney Tel Aviv Concert

Tickets to what is arguably the most celebrated concert in modern Israeli history are still available 24 hours before show time. Former Beatle Paul McCartney will perform in Tel Aviv’s Yarkon Park Thursday evening – an event that has so overwhelmed the local music industry that most music clubs in the city are closing in deference to McCartney. While organizers originally talked of an audience in excess of 100,000, fewer than 40,000 tickets have been sold at prices considered expensive by Israeli standards. The 1,200-seat VIP section is selling for 5,000 shekels ($1,465) per seat, and 5,150 seats in the stands sell for 1,500 shekels ($440). The least expensive admission is 500 shekels ($147) for standing room. McCartney has been threatened by a Lebanon-based Islamic cleric for performing in Israel.
