Trumps Controversial Nominee for Ambassador to Israel Picks Up Major Endorsement

Against the backdrop of an intense campaign by liberal Jewish organizations to block the confirmation of President Trump’s selection to be America’s ambassador to Israel, nominee David Friedman picked up a major endorsement when Richard Sandler, the head of the board of trustees of the Jewish Federations of North America said, “I think he’ll be a good representative if he’s confirmed.” Sandler made reference to the way Friedman handled the grueling confirmation hearing during which Democrats on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee pounded away at now infamous statements Friedman had made in the past that included equating Jews on the far left of the political spectrum to Jews who aided the Nazis in order to survive during the Holocaust. It’s a rare occurrence to see the fierceness of opposition to an ambassadorial nomination. Underscoring the point, the Senate committee has yet to vote on the nomination despite a span of almost two weeks since the hearing.
