Tunisia Building Wall to Keep Out Islamists from Libya

As violence soars in Libya, neighboring Tunisia is building a 122-mile fence along the border between the two states that is intended to keep Islamists from entering from Libya and to prevent vehicles from crossing into the country. On Saturday, Defense Minister Farhat Horchani paid a visit to first section of the wall to be completed. Funding for the project was provided by the United States and Germany. According to the Associated Press, the barrier is made up of sand next to trenches filled with water and overseen by monitoring centers. Tunisia was stung by jihadi terrorists last year when 59 foreign tourists were killed in two separate attacks within a period of three months.
