Turkey Detains 20 Alleged ISIS Fighters; Thwarts Istanbul Plot

More than 20 men who are accused of belonging to the Islamic State have been arrested by Turkish authorities according to local media. One of the detainees has been identified as Ali Al-Aggal, the ISIS coordinator for attacks in Turkey. He was arrested with the others in Ankara. In a second operation in Istanbul, 24 more alleged ISIS fighters were taken into custody. The Istanbul group – identified as a sleeper cell — was said to be awaiting the arrival of explosives and ammunition for the planned attack. Turkey is said to be more active as a member of the US-led coalition after hearing criticism from other member nations who claim Turkey was not doing its fair share in the fight against ISIS.
