U.N. Agency Raising Money To Refurbish Palestinian Camp In Syria

The United Nations Relief Works Agency is looking for $26 million from donor countries in order to refurbish a Palestinian refugee camp in Syria. About 18,000 Palestinians have been living near Aleppo since 1948 in what had been World War II troop barracks. Syria has done nothing to upgrade the facilities in all that time. The Syrian government has now made some land available upon which some homes for Palestinians are being built, but the main effort to improve the Palestinians’ lot falls on the renovation project in the Neirab camp. For that, UNRWA is seeking international help.
