U.S. Troops Kill Top Taliban in Afghanistan

American forces reported killing the top Taliban in Afghanistan on Saturday. A spokesman for the U.S.-led coalition force said Akhtar Mohammad Osmani "is the highest ranking Taliban leader that we’ve ever killed." Two other Taliban fighters were killed when the car they were riding in was struck from the air. Osmani was said to control Taliban operations in six provinces. The U.S. called Osmani’s death "very significant."
